Kalila Camilon is a visual artist based in Manila. She attended the University of the Philippines, College of Fine Arts with a degree in Painting and the San Francisco Art Institute Pre-College program. Working across painting, textile, and photography, her art practice explores the tensions between the native and the man-made environment. She investigates how landscapes hold traces of personal and collective histories between organic and inorganic life forms. Her practice considers landscape not only as a physical site, but also as an emotional geography shaped by forces of both the natural and artificial. By weaving together fragmented imagery and surface tension, she creates works that function as material memory. Her works have been exhibited in Modeka Art Space, Edoweird, and elsewhere in Manila.
